As both an England and Australian rugby legend in his own right, Sam Burgess has now moved to coaching. He begins by becoming head coach for the Warrington Wolves in the Betfred Super League.
He was drawn to Warrington due to the opportunity and passion surrounding the club. Following his agreement to become head coach in August, Burgess has taken over an existing strong team as set up by his predecessor Daryl Powell.
During his first press conference as head coach, he spoke about the future of the club. He was keen to get across that whilst he will be a part of the success the team achieves, it is up to the players to secure their fate.
Looking to find a good middle-ground in the style of play, Sam Burgess is hoping to work with the team whilst making the changes he sees fit.
Sam Burgess has played in both rugby union and league before retiring from injury four years ago. As a hard-working sportsman Burgess is keen to get to work and make his mark as a coach. We look forward to seeing what his extensive experience will bring.
