Earlier this month, we sponsored Place Yorkshire’s event ‘Yorkshire Emerging Development Hotspots’.

As a Yorkshire based firm, we were very excited to hear about the plans for the region. The event brought together local authorities from across the county tol hear where they want to see developments. City centres are hubs for development hotspots, but where will the opportunities lie in Yorkshire in 2024 and beyond?

Leeds is in the top 1% in terms of housing delivery

Martin Farrington, director of city development at Leeds City Council opened the event with the optimistic news that Leeds has the highest rate of delivery of affordable accommodation. He talked us through the investment zones across the city.

As the event continued, we heard from:

• • Edward Highfield, (director of skills and regeneration at Kirklees Council) on the West Yorkshire investment zone and new mass transit routes.

• • Amy Stanbridge, (director of Henry Boot Construction) and David Rolinson, (chairman of planning consultancy Spawforths) spoke enthusiastically about Sheffield’s future.

• • Adam Varley, (development director of Scarborough Group International) outlined the challenges in Scarborough.

• • Simon Dew, (development director of Muse) detailed Bradford’s £12bn economy.

• • Gill Osgerby, (programme director for major projects at Hull City Council) spoke of the city’s underappreciated potential.
