Overford Associate Director, Crystal Jenkins has been providing quantity surveying and cost control support to Millenium Care UK Group. Together, we’ve been supporting the construction of their latest project, the Langtree Care Home in Standish. Nestled in a 10-acre countryside estate surrounded by dense natural wildlife, the goal is to support people with dementia to live well and vibrantly proving that they can do so in an alternative and innovative setting.
Part of the Standish Care Village, the community will provide a home for life through a range of care journeys. The building features carefully researched design by ACA – Alessandro Caruso Architects. Those who live at the home will do so in small clusters orientated around an open-plan kitchen. In turn, this ensures those who live in the home profit from its powerful but subtle therapeutic benefits.
The idea is that the home employs a household model of living with people in small numbers, reducing stress. The home benefits from views and access to verdant spaces to support people to live longer, happier and better. It will also feature music facilities, in-house quality catering, fitness and social activities.
Overford’s Role at Langtree
Our role has seen Crystal regularly on-site keeping track of progress and helping ensure the project is delivered within the client’s goals and expectations. The team anticipate the first residents will arrive at the home in a few weeks.
